need words of wisdom from those who have done this before, esecially near the spectrum as in are there any place that are friendly towards this (wal mart), are there any places i want to stay away from etc

If you are sociable and friendly, you could try www.couchsurfing.com
Pretty nice concept. You search for couches in the area you will be staying, and ask people if you can stay at their place. But, it's much more about making connections instead of finding a free place to stay.

If you do decide to try the couchsurfing route, you may want to check in with a few meetups nearby so you can get to know some of the folks. You'll get an idea of what couchsurfing is all about, plus, you can get some references, which will make it easier to find a place to stay.

Just don't go anywhere near 13th and Locust...

If you can get out off the city at night, you'll sleep better... but don't head east or cross any bridge to leave because you just drove into camden and that's never good... I was born there...

Just south of there is the navy yard and there's a park nearby.

The pretzels taste great the next day cold, just save some mustard.

You'll need an Iroc to blend in, put on black shades and sleep with an angry look on your face, you'll be fine.

God bless you but I recommend turning in your empty beer cans to recycling and saving the money for a Motel 6 or red rash inn. You'll just regret not having a true place to crash after the show

You gotta get a 'shorty'
8mpg/20gal tank = approx 150 miles per tank before you gotta start lookin' for a wal-mart parking lot!

thanks for the link, NC - I'm finishing my degree in psych, and had not thought of the archive for research of turn-of-the-century research.

There is more shit on here than I think. There are full texts and flipbooks of everything form ayan rand to karl marx on here... if only there was something on monetary and fiscal policy on here...

I'm entirely unfamiliar with the venue and can't recall ever even being anywhere near Philadelphia, but I have a surplus of experience trying to sleep in cars. The operative word there is "trying." Whatever bill of goods it is that's been sold to you about this being some kind of "adventure," you bought a pig in a poke. It is much more of an adventure to crash your car than to crash in your car. But it's better than trying to sleep in the rain, again, the operative word being "trying," and I've been there, too.

Hey Bryan, good to see your words here. I know you prefer hanging at the hook these days but don't be a stranger.

Right neighborly of you, elbow. I think one of the last times I contributed to a thread here, I got a bit surly, wearing out my welcome to a degree. It would seem from your reply, though, that I haven't completely alienated myself, so I will keep your encouraging words in mind. Thanks!

i'm a local (lived in the city 8 years, now in the burbs) and would honestly advise against sleeping in the car near the venue...if you don't get hassled by the cops, you may get accosted by the natives...do a little internet research and find yourself a local campground and sleep easy

Good advice from previous poster about not going over a bridge!

Look for other freaky looking deadhead people in the venue area and see if there's a mini looking dead- camping village developing. If so become part of it, and just know the cops may decide to break it all up depending on the social perspective of the neighborhood.

And sleep on your wallet.

When sleeping on your wallet, keep one eye open (peace and love):
